Easy to Make Valentine’s Day Love Potion Bottle

I looked at this saffron bottle at the grocery store and knew I had to make something with it. Saffron is a must for our kitchen spice rack because my family loves saffron risotto. The last time I needed a refill, my usual brand wasn’t available, and I ended up with this hidden gem.

The empty saffron bottle had only sat in my crafting room for a few days when it came to me: a Valentine’s Day love potion bottle. It was perfect for my tabletop Valentine’s Day table tray. And – even better – it was easy! Drying time took longer than all other steps put together.

So, let’s get started with this easy-to-make love potion bottle.

Supplies

  • empty glass bottle
  • pre-mixed acrylic pouring point (red or pink)
  • cardboard or cardstock
  • exacto knife
  • key charms or another embellishment
  • eye dropper
  • string
  • alphabet letter stamps
  • stamp archival ink

How to Make this Easy Love Potion Bottle Decor

First, make sure your bottle is clean and dry – remove the labels if you are reusing a bottle as I did. Using the eye dropper, drop some acrylic pouring paint into the bottle. I used the eye dropper to avoid splashing paint around the bottle.

Next, roll the bottle around to spread the paint up the sides. You may need several coats. Set the bottle down for five minutes to allow the paint around the sides to dry a little and roll the bottle again. I repeated this process three times. Once done, you may have a puddle of paint at the bottom of the bottle. Use the eye dropper to suck out the excess paint.

While the bottle is drying, stamp out the word LOVE on your cardboard or cardstock. I used a thin piece of cardboard from a package of precut fabric squares. Cut the LOVE tag and poke a hole for the string.

My daughter jumped in and helped me with this part. She slipped the tag and key on the string and tied it around the bottle’s neck.

That’s it! It’s really that easy and a great way to make use of an empty bottle.
